Greetings Aliens! Are you ready to embark on a mission to uncover the mysteries behind our nation’s most iconic landmarks? The time is 10,000 years in the future, and aliens are all that remain on planet Earth. We the aliens, in order to form a more perfect union, must venture out into this unknown land and make sense of these ruined pillar structures of Washington, DC. On Wednesday, July 24 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., join the Corcoran on an interactive and fun-filled summer scavenger hunt around the city of Washington DC!
In conjunction with the Corcoran’s NOW exhibition, Ellen Harvey: An Alien’s Guide to the Ruins of Washington DC, this scavenger hunt provides an alternate perspective of Washington DC, inspired by Harvey’s artwork. Welcome to a world where you are the alien, humans are Pillar-Builders, and buildings are pillar structures. Alien scavenger routes are tailored to both adult and family alien explorers:
#AliensInDC Family Edition: Interactive games and sight-seeing await for this family oriented Alien excursion. Roaming aliens, gourmet ice cream sandwiches from DC’s own Milk Cult, and face painting are only a few of the surprises that await along this route.
#AliensInDC After Hours Edition: Venture to DC’s landmarks and play games with friends on this sunset, happy hour hunt. Stop by local DC bars along the route, such as The Bottom Line and Exchange Saloon, and indulge in specialty alien cocktails featured exclusively for participators. Enjoy happy hour, and it may just earn you enough points to win the hunt!
Prizes include Corcoran Memberships ($60 value), a delicious meal from Todd Gray’s Muse Café ($25-30 value), as well as a classic novelty treat, Moon Pies! Aliens can document their journey by posting photos to Instagram and Facebook using the hashtag, #AliensInDC. Unleash the alien within, and explore DC this summer with the Corcoran!
