As the last of the leaves fall, and the temperature drops, we say goodbye to fall and welcome winter. During these chilly months of good tidings and holiday cheer, we invite you to celebrate the season with the Corcoran. We have lots of fun in store for youth and families, including information about Camp Creativity 2014. It may be cold outside, but summer will be here before you know it and it’s never too soon to start planning!

This year, we are thrilled to share what is NEW this coming summer with Camp Creativity. For the first time this summer, we’ll be holding morning sessions for preschoolers (ages 3-4) at the Hill Center near Eastern Market. With our small class sizes and seasoned instructors, our youngest budding artists will be able to experience art in a developmentally appropriate and engaging manner.

Also in summer 2014, we are expanding! We will be partnering with Capitol Hill Day School to offer camp on their campus, in addition to our current locations – the Corcoran Gallery

The best part about Camp Creativity is the variety of the offerings, and in 2014 we will be expanding our roster even further! For our younger campers, we will offer fresh new classes that include Animal Menagerie, Pirates and Parrots, Modern Masters, and more. For the older campers, we have added an additional Pirates and parrots week of Ceramics Studio, a new Digital Animation class, and our popular Magazine Launch class which will be held in the computer lab this year.

There are so many more great things coming to Camp Creativity 2014, and lots of opportunities to ask questions and learn more. This weekend, December 14 and 15, stop by and visit us at Eastern Market in the North Hall between 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. There will be FREE face painting and balloons for kids, and we’ll have our Camp Creativity catalog hot of the press. You can also find our offerings online at or email to get a catalog mailed to you. Priority registration for members begins on January 27, and opens to the public on February 10.

Of course, there’s no need to wait for summer to have fun at the Corcoran! After ringing in the new year, come beat the winter blues at our FREE night of Snow Much Fun! On January 25 from 6-9 p.m., we will be hosting a night of art-making, hot cocoa, kids’ gallery tours, and a performance. Bring in a donation of warm clothing and blankets to benefit Covenant House Washington, and get 2014 off to a great start.
